REALLY long response to what you said. [spoiler] The majority of the player base plays pve which is without a doubt undeniable, but, I'm almost 100% certain that nobody only does PvP when they get on the game. Assuming we use whatever the numbers are now...i think it's like 700k pve and 500k PvP. 700k is more than likely what the true population of Destiny is currently, but, around 500k log in to play either PvP or gambit. Before gambit came out, crucible numbers ALWAYS averaged around half. Considering milestones for people that hate crucible don't spread it out over time and just get it done immediately, besides reset, it's actually common to still see it average around half. So when you take this into consideration, around 40-50% of the games total population plays crucible once a day and around 60-75% play PvP or gambit. So really, if you subtract the number of pve players from the number of PvP players (flip that actually) you get around 350k people who only play pve. Even if what I said were not true and it tracks players only by a single completion of an activity, PvP being around 1/3 to 1/2 of the population is significantly higher than people give it credit. So when someone says that by adding skill based matchmaking will "increase player count," it typically falls flat on its ass because the people who are ALREADY playing PvP would still be playing, and of those who don't log in to crucible at all, there's an extremely high chance it wouldn't make a difference...
