SEC Power Rankings: Vanderbilt, Kentucky rising following big series' victories (2025)

Similar to weeks prior, this past weekend of SEC baseball action certainly lived up to the hype it garnered going in.

Starting on Thursday night, the SEC saw multiple ranked matchups take place across the conference, with some in between Top 10 teams.

In addition to that, the SEC also multiple surprises results, both in-and-out of conference play, and as a result, some of those same teams have now moved in our latest baseball power rankings. However, who were some of the teams, and which direction did they end up moving?

Here are the updated SEC baseball power rankings as of Monday, April 21.

16. Missouri Tigers

Missouri's struggles continued once again this week, as the Tigers are now 0-18 in SEC play following a three-game road sweep at Oklahoma. Also defeating Missouri State earlier in the week, Missouri (13-26 overall) has now lost three-straight ahead of road games this week against Missouri State and Alabama.

15. South Carolina Gamecocks

South Carolina now sits at 23-18 overall, as well as 4-14 in SEC play, following a week in which the Gamecocks had a strong showing that included a win over The Citadel, as well as taking two-of-three at home against Ole Miss. The Gamecocks will host North Florida, as well as travel to Kentucky, this week.

14. Mississippi State Bulldogs

After a dominant win over Southern, Mississippi State dropped two-of-three at home against Florida during the weekend to enter this week sitting at 24-16 overall, as well as 6-12 in SEC play. This week for the Bulldogs will feature a neutral site game against Ole Miss, as well as a road series at Auburn.

13. Kentucky Wildcats

After a midweek victory over Miami (OH), Kentucky originally dropped Game 1 of their weekend series at Tennessee, but bounced back over the next two to win a big series over the Volunteers. The Wildcats' record now sits at 22-15 overall (8-10 in SEC) entering a week in which they will play at home against both Louisville and South Carolina.

12. Florida Gators

The Gators now sit at 27-15 overall, as well as 6-12 in SEC play, coming off a week in which Florida defeated Stetson and Mississippi State, the latter of which was a series win in Starkville where they took two-of-three. Florida will now play entirely in Gainesville this week, hosting both Georgia Southern and Arkansas.

11. Ole Miss Rebels

Ole Miss had one of the roughest weeks of any SEC team, falling to Little Rock in Oxford during the midweek, 7-3, and followed that up over the weekend by dropping two-of-three at South Carolina, avoiding a sweep with a 12-2 win in Game 3. As a result, the Rebels sit at 28-12 overall (10-8 in SEC) entering an all-SEC week that features a neutral matchup with Mississippi State on Tuesday, as well as a home series against Vanderbilt over the weekend.

10. Texas A&M Aggies

Texas A&M continued their rise this past week with a win over Tarleton, followed by an impressive series win on the road at Arkansas in which the Aggies took two-of-three. Now sitting at 23-16 overall (8-10 in SEC), Texas A&M will return to action this week against Sam Houston and Texas, the latter of which is a high-profile series in Austin.

9. Alabama Crimson Tide

Alabama's record now sits at 31-10 overall, as well as 9-9 in SEC action, following a week in which they defeated UAB at home, but also dropped two-of-three at LSU. Up next for the Crimson Tide is a road game at Samford, and will be followed by a series against Missouri this weekend.

8. Oklahoma Sooners

Oklahoma's past week was about as impressive as you'll find, going undefeated with road wins at Oklahoma State and Missouri where the Sooners outscored their opponents a combined 57-13 across four games. Now riding a four-game winning streak, Oklahoma (29-10 overall, 10-8 in SEC) will look to continue that success this week as the Sooners host Oral Roberts, followed by a weekend series at Georgia.

7. Auburn Tigers

After a midweek victory over Jacksonville State, Auburn struggled during the weekend at Texas in which the Tigers were swept by the Longhorns, outscored in all a combined 25-7. Now riding a three-game losing streak, the Tigers will host both Georgia Tech and Mississippi State in Auburn this week.

6. Georgia Bulldogs

After a midweek victory over in-state rival Georgia Tech, the Bulldogs were however swept at Vanderbilt during the weekend in disappointing fashion to now sit at 33-9 overall, as well as 10-8 in SEC play. Georgia will carry a three-game losing streak into a high-profile non-conference midweek showdown on the road at Clemson, with that also followed by a home series against Oklahoma.

5. Vanderbilt Commodores

After a close win over Lipscomb to start the week, Vanderbilt had one of the more impressive weekend showings of any SEC team, sweeping Georgia at home in a series where the Commodores outscored the Bulldogs a combined 21-10. Having now won five-straight, Vanderbilt's record sits at 30-10 overall (11-7 in SEC) entering a week in which the Commodores will face Middle Tennessee and Ole Miss, the latter of which is in Oxford.

4. Tennessee Volunteers

After a strong start to the week that included a win over Bellarmine, as well as a Game 1 victory against Kentucky, the Volunteers went on to however drop the next two against Kentucky to fall in one of the more surprising series' results of the weekend. As a result, Tennessee's record now sits at 33-7 overall (12-6 in SEC) ahead of a week in which the Volunteers will host Lipscomb, followed by a high-profile road series at LSU.

3. Arkansas Razorbacks

After a road series loss the week prior, Arkansas returned home this past weekend where the Razorbacks would fall in two-of-three against Texas A&M, combining those results with a victory over UAPB during the midweek to sit at 34-7 overall, as well as 13-5 in SEC play. The Razorbacks will host Little Rock for two games during the midweek prior to traveling to Florida this weekend.

2. LSU Tigers

After suffering a series sweep last weekend, LSU bounced back in a big way this past week with a home victory over McNeese, and followed that up by taking two-of-three from Alabama. LSU improves to 34-7 overall, as well as 12-6 in SEC play, and will play at home entirely this week against Northwestern State and Tennessee.

Holding firm in the top spot, Texas has now won five-straight following an undefeated week in which they defeated UTSA and Auburn at home, the latter of which was a sweep against a Top 10 opponent. For the season, Texas now sits at 33-5 overall, while also atop the SEC standings at 16-2 in conference play, entering a week that begins with a road game at Texas State, and will be followed by a high-profile SEC series at home against Texas A&M.
